Why does my steel watch band turn my wrist black?
My watch is turning my wrist black. It does wash off but it didn’t do that before. The watch is a fairly good low price watch – Lorus/Seiko. Is there anything I can do about it. Washing? Coating? Any ideas or explanations?
Thanks for the answers, This is coming from the band rather than the watch itself, The watch is probably stainless as I doubt Siko would put it’s bame on a cheaply made watch. I did buy it on ebay though so now I wonder if it’s a knock off.
The silver on these watches is just a coating with another metal, usually nickel, under that. The silver wears down over time from the friction of being on your skin exposing the nickel under which can leave black marks and in the case of allergies (a common occurrence) red spots and itchy welts on your wrist.
Im allergic. I tried to paint clear coat nail polish on it but that was only a temporary fix as it wore off later too. It may be time to get a new watch or perhaps new band.
